Movie Review: Mangal Pandey
Lyke I said….. I watched a lotta bollywood movies lately b/c I didn’t go to prom and had spring break and blbalbhalbhbblahblahblah….
Well, this one’s kinda old but whatevs, here it’tis!!
I think elephants are my favorite animals. The film practically opens with this BEAUTIFUL elephant all painted ‘n awesome.
I wasn’t as much into this film as with others…there was all this drama about guys fighting each other. BUT but but but it’s totally cool that the main guy (mangal pandey) stood up for his beliefs in his religion. Ppl should always stand up for their beliefs….that’s would Gaga would say too…
ok so waht is this film actually about? It’s about how these indian men are being made to fight for the brittish so that they can still have money for the east india trading company. If that’s not bad enuff we find out later that the packaging around the bullets that the men have to bite off to use is made with pig fat… pigs and cows are sacred to muslims and hindus so they refused to eat it.
But yea, there were some funny/gross parts in the film too lyke when the guys are wrestling in diapers… LOL
But my fav part fo sho is when the girls are dancing by the fire and the scene where everyone dances around with colored powers and throws them at eachother.
I wish I could dance and wear pretty clothes and throw colored powder around! I think that thing was called Holi or something. Sounds awessommmeeeee…!!!@3!!
Okaay, so coming up: more reviews on bollywood films! my new friend #pyaarsingh (pyaarsingh.tumblr.com) suggested a bunch of cool movies to me that I wanna see soon.
Movie Review: I Hate Luv Storys
So, this was an Indian Bollywood film about a guy who doesn’t believe in love (pretty typical?) and a girl who believes in it more than anything. She has everything she could want with a very “metro” boyfriend and a job working for a movie production company in India (jealousssss… I want to work in India, like, now.)
Her apartment was really cute. Can I just live there? K thanx.
The movie theaters looked totally like American movie theaters. Do they all look like that? I thought the would be different. Hmm..
There were some really cool moments in this film. Esp because the lead was a girl who was totally in charge of all these silly boys. Hah, how fun they were tho. It was funny cuz the husband, Raj, seemed like he really really wanted to have J over for dinner. He’s always really nice to J (maybe a little too nice?)
Some parts of the movie I didn’t like, like what one guy says “you girls really lover react easily”. We do not! Ugh…also, the sound of a plate breaking plays when someone mentions that someone is a “bisexual”. I dont get it.. Y??
Did anyone who saw this film think that the character who played the actor was kinda pretending to be straight? Like, he kept asking J how he thought his butt looked in his jeans. I dunno, it was weird. People do weird things sumtimes I guess.
Anyway, it was a pretty fun film. It looses points for some of the stupider comments about girls and bisexuals though…
I should really have a rating system right? Thoughts? Feedback plzzzz!
